DESCRIPTION

This  MasterCamp© on Cloud Computing: Concepts and Technologies will provide an in- depth exploration of cloud computing concepts and technologies. The  MasterCamp© will cover the fundamentals of cloud computing, including the history of cloud computing, cloud service models, deployment models, and security considerations. Students will gain an understanding of cloud computing fundamental concepts and technologies as well as the possible implementation strategies.

REQUIREMENTS

To enroll in this  MasterCamp©, students should have a basic understanding of computer science and programming concepts. Familiarity with networking technologies is also recommended. Access to a reliable internet connection and a computer or mobile device is required.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR

This  MasterCamp© is designed for professionals in the technology industry, including IT managers, software developers, system administrators, and network engineers, who want to gain a deeper understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies. It is also suitable for anyone interested in learning about the benefits and challenges of cloud computing.

COURSE CONTENT:

This  MasterCamp© includes 10 sessions that cover the following topics:

  2. Cloud Computing: demos IaaS and PaaS, Types of clouds
  3. Cloud Computing: benefits and limitations, technologies, technical challenges
  4. Virtualization: definition and concepts, advantages
  5. Virtualization: virtual machine migration definition and benefits, migration techniques, virtual machine management systems (Sandpiper)
  6. Virtualization: network access
  7. Virtualization: virtual machines versus containers
  8. Web Services and Restful APIs: definition and concepts, demo (Facebook APIs)
  9. Web Services and Restful APIs: OAuth Protocol, demo (Google REST APIs)
  10. Cloud Operating Systems – OpenStack as an example: introduction and demo
THIS MasterCamp© INCLUDES

This  MasterCamp© includes a range of resources and learning materials, including video lectures, readings, and interactive assignments. Students will have the opportunity to engage with other learners through discussion forums and participate in group projects designed to apply the knowledge gained in the course to real-world scenarios. Additionally, students will receive feedback and guidance from experienced cloud computing professionals throughout the course.

My Story

Professor Mohamed-Faten ZHANI is a highly accomplished researcher and educator with expertise in various areas of computer science and networking. He has made significant contributions to the fields of cloud computing, virtualization, resource management in large-scale distributed systems, big data analytics, software-defined networking, data center management, energy management, and green computing. He also specializes in network performance evaluation, network traffic modeling, analysis, and prediction, as well as anomaly detection and troubleshooting in networks. His research extends to network security, particularly focusing on intrusion detection systems, and optical networks, specifically Optical Burst Switched (OBS) networks.

Currently, Professor Mohamed-Faten ZHANI is serving as a Professor at ISITCOM (Institut Supérieur d’Informatique et des Techniques de Communication) in Sousse, Tunisia. In this role, he is actively engaged in teaching and research, with a focus on data center management, cloud computing and services, network virtualization, and software-defined networking.

In addition to his academic position, Professor Mohamed-Faten ZHANI holds the position of Co-Chair of Network Intelligence in the IEEE Emerging Technologies Initiatives. In this capacity, he contributes to the advancement of research related to integrating artificial intelligence into future network architectures.

Prior to his current position, he was a Professor at École de technologie supérieure in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he worked for eight years. He also held a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the University of Waterloo’s D.R. Cheriton School of Computer Science for three years, focusing on various aspects of cloud computing, big data, software-defined networking, data center virtualization, resource management, and energy-aware management.

During his time at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal), Professor Mohamed-Faten ZHANI served as a Research Assistant for six years, specializing in internet traffic modeling and prediction, as well as quality of service in optical burst switched networks. He also had the opportunity to work as a Lecturer, teaching a course on networks interconnection.

Professor Mohamed-Faten ZHANI’s extensive research interests and experiences highlight his expertise in the field of computer science, particularly in the areas of cloud computing, networking, and data management. His contributions have helped advance the understanding and development of innovative technologies in these domains.

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
